The Indian Avocado vs. Hass Avocado: What’s the difference?

Avocado- the ever popular and trending fruit amongst the millennials is available with two varieties- the less predictable but more economical Indian variety of avocados and the more expensive but always dependable Hass variety of avocados.

On the Left: Our Organic Indian Avocado; On the Right: Our Organic Hass Avocado

Oftentimes we decide to pay that extra bit of money for a Hass avocado because we feel the texture and ripeness is more consistent than that of the Indian one, and yes this is mostly true. But why is this?

Hass avocados have a higher oil percentage (usually around 18 percent) making the texture more creamy, and is therefore considered as the preferred variety.
Indian avocados on the other hand have a lower oil percentage (around 12 percent) making the texture slightly less creamy but a little more nutty in flavour.

At FIO, we love and appreciate both varieties for their individual strengths. Both avocados are equally nutritious and equally delicious, especially when cut open at the right time.
As we understand this is each individual's preference, we have both the organic Indian avocado and organic Hass avocado available at FIO. The choice is yours!
